Elladee was born and raised in the small west Kootenay town of Nakusp, BC. Growing up on the Arrow Lakes and playing in the Selkirk and Monashee Mountain ranges ignited her love for the outdoors and adventure. While completing her high school years in Whistler during the late ’80s, she discovered her true calling—mountain biking. The fire was lit, and within a few years she realized her ultimate dream of becoming a professional racer with Team Specialized at age 17.
Nearly four decades later, her passion for the sport is as strong as it was during those formative teenage years. Her career continues to evolve, touching almost every facet of the sport: freeriding, adventuring, coaching, guiding, writing, storytelling, and community building. These days, sharing the often-untold stories of the trails and the people behind them is what motivates her. In addition to media projects, she also works in sales and marketing for several brands within the bike industry throughout British Columbia.
Anne Keller and Elladee Brown retrace the backcountry routes of Alice Jowett, a respected hotelier and miner from the late 1800s. A trailblazer in a male-dominated era, Jowett owned and operated the renowned Windsor Hotel in Trout Lake, British Columbia. She established routes to her mining claims while navigating the harsh mountainous terrain well into her 80’s. Nearly a century later, a group of friends embark on a parallel journey, using modern technology to explore and connect the unknown and unmarked trails once traveled by the “Grand Old Lady of the Lardeau.”
