K2 – Chasing Shadows follows alpinist Benjamin Védrines, a rising star known for his technical prowess and record-breaking speed ascents, as he sets his sights on his most ambitious challenge yet: a fast, oxygen-free climb of K2, one of the world’s deadliest peaks. But beyond the summit lies a more personal, intimate quest for meaning — an inner mountain that tests him far beyond the limits of physical endurance.
David and Hugo share a common background in whitewater kayaking, but it was their filmmaking careers that brought them together. Over the years they’ve developed their creative touch on numerous commercial projects and award-winning documentaries. Whether at the writer’s desk, behind the camera, in the editing bay, or uncovering rare archival material, they draw on their complementary strengths to bring a unified perspective to their work. K2 – Chasing Shadows is their first film as co-directors.
