Is the story worth dedicating years to? Does it have universal appeal? Who is the target audience? What is the filmmaker’s personal motivation? Participants will also determine the best format for their story and identify the main character’s role in driving the narrative.

This workshop will look at the art of pitching ideas, raising money, and building excitement about your projects.

This workshop examines the director-protagonist relationship, focusing on trust, ethics, and storytelling dynamics.

Topics include building trust, managing personal connections, working with public figures or archival subjects, and handling negative protagonists. Filmmakers will also explore balancing responsibility to subjects and their families and deciding when to replace a protagonist for the film’s greater good.

The show culminates in a feature film that uncovers the life of Wanda Rutkiewicz – the first woman to conquer the highest peaks – and her unexplained disappearance.
