Ben Mayforth was never supposed to walk, let alone climb. Born with several congenital birth defects including spina bifida, his childhood was a series of life-altering surgeries and painful recoveries that left the lower half of his body with limited strength and sensation. But all these struggles gave Ben a fierce internal drive, and the moment he touched a wall, Ben realized that climbing “was what I was born to do”. Having devoted his life to the sport, Ben now intends to make paraclimbing history on a sustained 5.13 sport climb that will force him to transcend his physical limits.
