Malin Ek is passionate about endurance adventures in the mountains. She holds course records and podium finishes in the ultra-running world. She loves ski touring, scrambling mountains, climbing and mountain biking. Her friends compare her to the sun: warm and bright with infinite energy. Malin, a Swedish native, visited Canada in 2016 to complete her Masters in Environmental Engineering. She fell in love with the Coast Mountains and never left. Malin co-founded the Outdoor Adventurers Club to bring purpose to her adventures.
Malin Ek and Mark Sky received the VIMFF Arc’teryx Coast Mountain Adventure Grant in 2022 to undertake their ambitious human powered traverse of the jewels of the Sea to Sky mountains. This is their story.
The Sea to Sky Infinity Loop is a very ambitious and nearly impossible, 100% human-powered multi-sport adventure in our own backyard.
This expedition includes climbing the 7 most iconic mountains, scrambling famous traverses, crossing glaciers, packrafting wild rivers, running through 7 beautiful provincial parks, mountain biking the Sea to Sky Trail, and paddling a fjord off the Pacific Ocean.
Approximately – 575km | 25,000 meters of vert | 17 days
7 iconic summits – West Lion, Sky Pilot, Garibaldi, Black Tusk, Wedge, Currie, Tantalus
5 iconic traverses – Garibaldi Neve, Spearhead, Tantalus, HSCT, Sea-to-Sky Super-Traverse
Their major goal besides trying to complete this crazy adventure is to showcase and support the provincial parks in the Sea to Sky. As the community and populations grow, we need to step up our game to protect these areas, not just for us but for future generations. Protect our parks for infinity.
All donations will support BC Parks within the Sea to Sky region.
