What It Takes: Expeditions Unfiltered
Three women venture into the wilds of Patagonia to explore what’s possible, only to be met with harsh conditions, unexpected challenges, and their own limits.
Drawn by wild landscapes and the promise of exploration, the expedition begins with excitement and ambition, but Patagonia has other plans. As unpredictable weather, logistical breakdowns, physical exhaustion, and self-doubt set in, the journey quickly becomes less about the destination and more about resilience.
Stripped of comfort, certainty, and control, the women are forced to confront fear, ego, and the unspoken expectations placed on themselves and each other. What It Takes peels back the polished image of adventure to reveal the emotional and mental reality behind expeditions. This is not a story of perfection or conquest, but of adaptation, trust, and redefining success when everything doesn’t go according to plan. Set against the stark beauty of Patagonia, the film is an unfiltered look at what it truly takes.
Alex Clapin founded Untamed Media in early 2021. His filmmaking started on the slopes in Colorado, capturing mates. Since then he’s produced films for a large range of clients and brands. Many of these have been adventure-based, including snowboarding, skydiving, slacklining and surfing… activities he loves doing himself. Others have been lifestyle, product, real estate and wedding films. It’s taken him on some epic adventures and connected him with so many inspiring people. He loves storytelling and wants his films to encourage others to get out and explore themselves.

Alexi’s insatiable passion for visual storytelling and social and environmental justice have led him to the writing and directing of his multi-award-winning, independently produced debut feature film, Rematriation – bringing him new accomplishments in directing, cinematography and producing. Alexi is a film director in the Director’s Guild of Canada, and over the past 8 years, his creative journey has included producing music videos, commercials, documentaries, shorts, narrative feature and broadcast television work in a variety of creative roles.
