Synopsis

Whistler Blackcomb isn’t just a place you visit, it’s a feeling you return to. A place that becomes a compass point in your life. We don’t come back for the routine. We come back for the moments that remind us why this mountain feels like home. The storm that buries the forest and sends friends chasing each other through pillows and powder. The lift line laughter, where every chair is a front-row seat to the action. And when the sun drops behind the peaks, the Ring of Fire takes on a whole new meaning.

From the jaw-dropping reveal of Peak Chair, where legends and first-timers share the same stage, to the hush of solitude where glaciers swallow sound but leave a mark that lasts forever; and finally, the terrain park: the mountain’s laboratory of style and progression where different generations keep pushing each other toward something new.

If Magnetic was about what drew us here, Home is about why we never want to leave. Anchored by athlete stories, Whistler icons, and sweeping cinematography, it’s a love letter to the mountain and to the shared spirit that defines it, one shaped by an eclectic mix of skiers, snowboarders, locals, visitors, and wanderers who all find their passion and stoke in these peaks. Because skiing isn’t just about the line you take, it’s about who’s there with you when you take it.

This is Whistler Blackcomb: sixty years of community, culture, and iconic terrain distilled into one simple truth — every moment is better when shared. Here, in these mountains, we find home.

VIMFF Fall Series Jeff Thomas

Jeff Thomas

I have made a career of combining video production and spending as many days outside, as possible. As an award winning outdoor & adventure producer with 20 years of experience, I have worn nearly every hat. I have worked with an extensive list of outdoor brands, resort destinations, production companies & media agencies. Past roles include, co-producer/director at Switchback Entertainment (2010-2015), where I co-produced & co-directed over 5 seasons of Salomon Freeski TV alongside award winning short films. Before Switchback I produced a variety of my own independent films (2003-2008) while then co-directing/editing/shooting for Poor Boyz Productions, winning multiple awards including ‘Ski Movie of the Year’, Every Day is a Saturday. (2008-2010)

More recently, (2015-2018) I was director of video production creating & establishing a successful video production department and strategy at Origin Outside (now MMGY Origin), an outdoor sports digital media and advertising agency. With Origin, I co-concepted, produced and co-directed, ‘Best Use of Video Marketing’ in 2017 (NSAA Awards) for the Whistler Blackcomb Resort movie, MAGNETIC, alongside countless other campaigns, films and video strategies for brands throughout North America.

For the past 9 years (2018 and beyond), I have continued to merge brand and storytelling – producing and directing over 50 short films and strategic video content for a variety of brands, agencies and partners, including a handful of feature length winter-sports films with BLANK Collective Films, HEAD Winter-sports and Salomon. In 2021, I was lucky enough to once again win ‘Ski Movie of the Year’, with Tales From Cascadia.

I’ve continued to operate at a high creative pace, concepting and producing two to three feature-length winter films each year, alongside multiple marketing campaigns, short films, and hours of four-season brand and commercial content.

That work has been created for a wide range of distribution channels, from online and social platforms to paid media, inflight entertainment, broadcast, awards, worldwide premiere tours, and partner campaigns. It’s a workload that requires constant adaptability: moving between big-picture storytelling, production logistics, athlete-driven documentary work, commercial deliverables, and fast-turn creative needs.
