Emilie Pellerin is likely the best climber you’ve never heard of. Knowing this might be true for much of the climbing world, friend and filmmaker, Alexa Fay, sets out to make things right. In her directorial debut film “Em”, Alexa and Emilie share how one woman’s natural ability, positive problem solver’s mindset, and commitment to the ‘dirtbag lifestyle’ has turned her into a ‘yet to be known force’ in climbing. This film puts Emilie front and centre with her trip to Spain, her onsight climb of Squamish’s iconic and notoriously difficult “The Shadow” (5.13a), and through her latest challenge, “La Zébrée”, a 5.14a trad route featuring a soaking wet overhanging crack that has sent the strongest climbers home packing.

Alexa Fay is a filmmaker based in Montreal, Quebec. She has always had an interest in storytelling and was immediately drawn to film, finding her earliest work opportunities in editing and pre-production. Not feeling creatively satisfied, she left the film industry, discovered rock climbing, became instantly hooked and started a career in photography and marketing with a focus on climbing. Now, with a solid team around her and experience with action sports content under her belt, she is ready to come back into the film industry in a more creative role with her directorial debut film EM.
