Leanne Robinson and Dwayne Wohlgemuth embarked on a summer-long canoe trip across the Northwest Territories with their two sons: four-year-old Emile, and one-year-old Aleksi. Together they faced the challenges of living off the land and the criticism from back home.

Keith Robertson got his feet wet as a documentary filmmaker in Yellowknife in 2017 with a documentary short about making birch syrup. After studying film editing at the Banff Centre in 2018, Keith made a series of award-winning adventure documentaries all set in the North, including Family Routes. This past summer Keith moved from Yellowknife to Montreal to begin the adventure of parenthood with his partner, Gabrielle.
