Synopsis

High in the Himalayas along the border of Nepal and Tibet exist some of the world’s most ancient mountain cultures. Although their remoteness has ensured the longevity of their traditional heritage, the lack of access to education has contributed to a dark history of exploitation. In one of these remote valleys, a stranger arrives with the hope to break that cycle and rewrite the future of its people.

Wes Overvold

Wes Overvold’s passion for cinematography is born from his love for art, interesting light, and captivating stories. His exposure to the craft began at the arts high school in Savannah, Georgia and developed through college at Appalachian State University. From there, he has chased light and inspiring characters all over the world from the Rocky Mountains to Alaska and as far away as Nepal. His first feature documentary film, Helambu, takes place in the latter and captures a combination of compelling characters, their culture, and a breath-taking location that also serves as an impactful character itself.
