A Story of Karma
Join author Michael Schauch and friends as he introduces his new book, A Story of Karma: Finding Love and Truth in the Lost Valley of the Himalaya. The story begins with Schauch’s dream to climb an unknown mountain in the Himalaya of northern Nepal. What unfolds in the mountains, however, forces him to question his values and his own identity, and eventually leads him to meet a little girl in a remote mountain village. Little did either of them know that from that moment they would completely change the trajectory of each other’s life. In short, it is a story of human connection, love, and compassion amidst the complex dichotomies of our world.
“Schauch’s vividly descriptive writing will transport you to a remote Himalayan village and leave you with the taste of yak butter tea on your tongue and the odour of dung-fuelled fires in your clothing.”— Jan Redford, author of End of the Rope: Mountains, Marriage, and Motherhood
This special journey features book readings from Schauch that will “awaken your senses and touch your heart”, a live musical performance by singer/songwriter Michael Averill, and a dialogue with the author.
“A Story of Karma depicts beautiful imagery that pulls the reader in, making the scenes come alive. [Schauch’s] work is also ripe with raw emotion and insight. Feelings… radiate through the pages.” — Jennifer Padgett, Seattle Book Review
