Synopsis

Sometimes the greatest adventures arise from the worst ideas. After the sweeping success of their debut feature film “Without a Paddle: A Canoe Film about Snowboarding”, Johan Rosen and Nicholas Khattar finally decide it is time to make a sequel. They decide the most direct route to fame and riches is to go north to Alaska. The only problem is how are they going to get there? After collecting a few fellow broke and stoked stragglers with a hunger to go North, the team is tasked with the unenviable chore of pedalling wholly unsuitable bicycles from Terrace British Columbia to Haines Alaska, choosing to travel along Highway 37, the Cassiar Highway, one of Canada’s most desolate and remote highways. It’s not how any of them imagined getting to the promise land, but it will have to do. Strapped for cash or better ideas the team embark on a gruelling 1300km bicycle journey. With snowboards and a keyboard in-tow, they must rely on their wit, resilience, humour and occasional dumb luck to overcome treacherous terrain, unpredictable weather and their own limitations. Will they reach Alaska or will the wilderness and the road prove too much to handle?

Johan Rosen

Raised in a small village in rural Sweden by his mom; a physiotherapist with a passion for how the body works, and his father; a respected violinist and Swedish folk musician that started the first independent record label back in the 60s, Johan was taught early on to follow his dreams and passions full-hearted. After graduating from the Swedish Snowboarding Academy, an elite sports high-school program with minimal in-class lessons allowing the students to spend 2-3 days of the school week in the mountains snowboarding, Johan grew tired of doing competitions and repetitive park riding. In 2012 he started spending his winters in Canada where he totally fell in love with powder riding and taking the park skills to the back country. He invested in camera gear, sleds, computers, and Johan and his friends started to shoot their own movie productions. Fast forward 10 years and he is now a full-time Revelstoke, BC resident, the childhood dream of becoming a professional snowboarder has become reality, and he is running his own production company making award winning movies.
