Stories of land, culture, and adventure—shared in community.
This September, the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) is bringing Best of the Fest to Haida Gwaii in partnership with local organizers, artists, and leaders. More than a film tour, this initiative is about mentorship, community connection, and celebrating stories that inspire and reflect the spirit of the islands.
About the Initiative
The Haida Gwaii Film & Mentorship Initiative is built on collaboration. Together with local curators and community members, we’re creating a film experience rooted in place—where Indigenous voices, adventure stories, and cultural perspectives come together on screen.
Our long-term goal is to support local leadership so that future editions of the tour are fully community-led and sustainable.
What to Expect
- Free screenings open to all
- Locally curated film lineup blending Indigenous storytelling and adventure films
- Honorariums for participating artists, speakers, and collaborators
- Community-based partnerships, from gear rentals to technical support
