Colin Jones

Director/Cinematographer

Colin Jones is a director, director of photography, drone pilot, and co-founder whose career has been shaped by a deep connection to action sports and mountain culture. Raised on Vancouver’s North Shore, he came of age alongside the rise of snowboarding and mountain biking—experiences that set the foundation for both his creative voice and professional path.

That passion naturally led him behind the camera, where he has spent more than two decades telling stories rooted in the culture that raised him. In the early 2000s, Jones helped create The Collective, and in 2008 he went on to co-found Anthill Films with close friends, driven by a desire to remain creatively independent and authentic to their world.

In those early days, resourcefulness was everything. From improvised backcountry setups to a homemade “Baby Dolly” built from a skateboard and fence posts, Jones honed a hands-on, inventive approach to filmmaking. Those formative experiments shaped a shooting style defined by creativity, persistence, and problem-solving—qualities that continue to inform his work today.
Now working as both a director and principal DP, Jones remains deeply engaged behind the lens. He is also an advanced licensed aerial drone pilot and cinematographer, filming in some of the world’s most remote and spectacular environments.
Under his co-leadership, Anthill Films has grown into an award-winning production company, collaborating with top athletes and global brands. While the accolades matter, Jones is most proud of the team behind the work—people united by heart, grit, and a shared commitment to powerful storytelling.
