Melissa (wiin/she/her) is a proud Anishinaabe Kwe with mixed Ojibway and European ancestry. Her love and respect for the outdoors was born from her childhood where she grew up with her feet in the earth and her hands in the water. She now lives as a visitor in Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh with her husband and two children where her connection to the land and her Anishniaabe culture has transformed. Her desire to contribute to and be part of community led her to Indigenous Women Outdoors where she has supported the trail running, harvesting, snowshoeing, and mountain biking programs. When she’s not on the land, Melissa loves spending time with her family, her friends, and her beads.
