One Step Ahead follows Norwegian skier Bernt Marius as he gets back to doing what he loves: skiing big lines in the Sunnmøre Alps after losing his leg in an accident. The film captures the ups and downs of relearning the sport and working through the mental side of recovery. It’s a raw, honest look at what it takes to keep moving forward when everything changes.

Alexi Godbout is a Canadian skier-turned-filmmaker whose work blends high-energy action with playful, character-driven storytelling. As a key creative behind Blank Collective Films projects including Cold Calls, One Step Ahead, Follow the Forecast, 7 Stages of Blank, Before Blank, and Tales From Cascadia, he brings a fresh narrative twist to ski cinema—mixing striking mountain cinematography with humor, authenticity, and a deep connection to the culture of the sport.
