Mountain Bike legend Hans Rey presents at Centennial Theatre

Presented by Clif Bar, join us on February 22 at Centennial Theatre to meet Hans Rey, former Trials World Champion and inductee of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. Hans is widely considered to be a pioneer of both the Mountain Bike Freeride movement and the Trials riding scene. As a professional rider and ambassador for the sport, he travels the world.

At this year’s VIMFF show, Hans will be sharing career highlights including how he got started, favourite ride destinations/bike expeditions and he’ll also be presenting his newest film Trans Hong Kong Urban Adventure. This recent documentary by Cedric Tassan features Hans and Enduro/DH sensation Martin Maes.  It not only showcases this amazing city with its’ 7000 high rise buildings, but also the natural beauty of the region and purpose built bike trails surrounding the city and island. It’s a wonderful journey of contrasts; nature and harmony versus urban jungle and chaos, culture and history. These two mountain bike legends meet up with local riders and find themselves amidst the recent protests.

Hans Rey

Hans, nickname “No Way Rey”, has been demonstrating his talent in over 60 countries for decades. He earned his recognition by jumping over a car on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles, with his volcano dance in Hawaii, his under-water bungee jump and his Machu Picchu Adventures. During the mid-nineties, Hans created the Hans Rey Adventure Team visiting remote and extreme locations around the globe, often riding his bike where a bicycle had never been ridden before. In addition Hans would seek out locations that were both historic and held some mystery, always capturing his exploits for the media.

In 2005 Hans started a non-profit charity called Wheels 4 Life, giving bicycles to people most in need of transportation in developing countries. Currently he is working with IMBA to develop more beginner friendly flow trails. Hans has been a pro mountain biker for 30 years and continues to explore the globe.

We are proud to host Hans and invite our Vancouver outdoor community to meet him at this February’s Mountain Bike show! For more information about Hans, follow him @hansnowayrey or check out his website.
