We’re excited to share an update on a special project that’s been taking shape in deep collaboration with community members: VIMFF Best of the Fest: Haida Gwaii Film & Mentorship Initiativeis heading to Haida Gwaii this September.
This tour is about more than just screening films—it’s about building relationships, supporting local leadership, and celebrating stories rooted in land, culture, and adventure.
Locally Curated, Community-Led
At the heart of this initiative is a commitment to mentorship and long-term sustainability. We’re working closely with local organizers in Haida Gwaii to co-create the event and support them in taking the lead on future editions of the tour.
The film lineup is being curated locally, showcasing a mix of Indigenous-directed films, Indigenous-focused stories, and films that celebrate the spirit of mountain adventure—climbing, paddling, trekking, and more. These are stories that inspire, challenge, and reflect deep connections to land and identity.
