How to Navigate the VIMFF 2018 Program

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12582″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][vc_column_text]VIMFF ticket sales are on now! With over 40 shows and workshops happening from February 9-17, there is a lot of awesome content happening over 9 days.

What can you expect at the festival? VIMFF is all about celebrating mountain culture. Featuring epic outdoor adventure films, many shows also have mind-blowing presentations from some of the top adventure filmmakers and athletes in the world. And let’s not forget the chance to win door prizes from VIMFF’s generous sponsors.

So where to begin?

The VIMFF 2018 program is laid out in a handy calendar format, colour-coded by venue. Filters can be applied to sort the shows, and you can filter by genre, location, and time.

Genres

Do you enjoy epic powder days? Maybe you’re into sending gnarly routes that make others’ palms sweat and legs turn into jelly. Or maybe you love stunning cinematography and breathtaking mountain scenery.

VIMFF features all of the above and more. To find shows you’re most interested in, you can sort the program by workshops, skiing, climbing, adventure, art & photography, mountain culture, mountain sports, environmental, and Canadian content.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”12543″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text](Top tip: if you’re looking for shows spanning a variety of genres, the ‘mountain culture’ and ‘adventure’ filters are a great place to start.)

Locations

This year’s program includes three brand new venues in Richmond, in West Vancouver, and on Cypress Mountain.

Filter the program by location to find shows nearest you, and check out shows at our eight venues across Metro Vancouver:

  • Centennial Theatre (North Vancouver)
  • Rio Theatre (Vancouver)
  • The Cinematheque (Downtown Vancouver)
  • Inlet Theatre (Port Moody)
  • Frederic Wood (UBC)
  • Rox Theatre (Richmond)
  • Kay Meek Theatre (West Vancouver)
  • Hollyburn Lodge (Cypress Mountain)

Times

The VIMFF program offers afternoon as well as evening shows. Matinees are a great way to spend a rainy Vancouver afternoon and enjoy ‘Best of’ and feature-length film selections. You can use the Time filter to sort by afternoon or evening.

Can’t Choose?

Having trouble deciding which shows to go to? I have a philosophy: why choose when you can have both.

It applies to things like picking what to do on a bluebird day in Vancouver, choosing which VIMFF shows to attend, and deciding between desserts. With the following multi-show discounts for adult tickets, you can have your cake and eat the other cakes too.

  • 2 shows — $1/ticket off
  • 3 shows — $2/ticket off
  • 4 shows — $3/ticket off
  • 5 shows — $4/ticket off

(Top tip: Purchase tickets online in advance to save $2 off the adult door price too)

But whichever shows you decide on, tickets often sell out, so you’ll want to secure yours soon![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
